A sunny day made the call of the sea too loud to ignore so Sally and I headed to the coast for the first time in 2020. Rachel stayed at home with Tommy as he was a bit snuffly last night.

A few cold minutes in the clifftop play area, then a walk down the steep slope to Filey beach. We thought there was a juicy burger in a wild salad at the side of the path but closer inspection revealed it to be a dog’s squeaky toy 🐩🍔🥬 ( Sally couldn’t resist adding the emojis )

On reaching the beach we did some fossiling with limited results, the best find being part of a belemnite . We also found an Old brick from Ackton Hall National Coal Board (so post 1947) brickworks. If bricks could tell tales I wonder what story it could tell.

Then headed to the sea for a paddle. My warning not to go too far for fear of a wave 🌊 (Sally picking an emoji again) spilling over the wellington tops was made redundant by the sneaky sea 🌊(you've guessed who picked this emoji) so we headed to a rock to change Sally’s socks.

Then we walked down to the far end of the promenade for fish and chips with a brief stop for a stick of rock ( candy floss flavour ). After the warm cafe a slightly tired young lady found the beach ( now in shadow due to the low sun ) a rather cold place so we headed up the cliff into Filey town and back to the car for the hour drive back.
